A text review says the product is good. A photo review shows it on a real person, in a real room, at a real size — which is the single thing a product page can’t do for itself. It’s the most valuable thing on the doable list that doesn’t involve a purchase, and it should be priced that way. Our default is 8%.
Set up the link
The mechanics are the same as a normal review link — see Get a review link for your store for the full steps. What changes is the form on the other end and the words you use.
Judge.me: get a review link from Settings → Request reviews → Links, QR codes and point of sale review collection. Then make sure pictures are actually invited: in the review form settings, photo upload should be enabled and visible, not buried behind an optional link.
Loox: Loox is the photo-first option and its form leads with the image upload, which is why its photo-review rate is so much higher than a text-first app’s. If you already run Loox, point the doable at its review flow.
Your own page: build a page as described in the other guide, and title it Send us a photo rather than Write a review. The title is doing most of the work.
Ask for the photo in the reward message
The doable’s reward message is what the negotiator says on the card. This is where photo reviews are won or lost. Compare:
“Leave a review and I’ll knock 8% off.”
“Send us a photo of yours in the wild — 8% off, and we might put it on the product page.”
The second one tells the shopper what you want, why you want it, and what they get beyond the money. Set it in Doables → Send a photo review → Reward message.
Get permission to use it
Being able to use the photo in ads and on product pages is most of its value, and that’s a licence question, not a technical one. Your review app’s terms usually cover display on your own store; using UGC in paid ads often needs more.
Two practical options:
- Add one line to the review form: “Ticking this lets us share your photo on our site and socials.” Most apps support a custom field or checkbox.
- Or reply to the reviewer and ask. A person who just took a photo for 8% off will almost always say yes.
Paste it into Symbiotic
- Symbiotic → Doables → Send a photo review → Add.
- Paste the link into Link to open.
- Set the reward — 8% is our default, and it’s the one doable where we’d argue for going higher rather than lower.
- Write the reward message.
- Save, then Turn on.
Troubleshooting
Lots of claims, few photos. This doable is granted on trust — the shopper taps “I did it” and we can’t see whether a photo arrived. Cross-check your review app’s inbox against the completion count on the Doables page for a week. If the gap is wide, lower the reward or move the ask to a post-delivery email, where the product is actually in their hands.
Photos arrive but they’re unusable. Say what good looks like in the form: natural light, the product in use, no need to be a photographer. One sentence doubles the hit rate.
