Get your Google review link
The short g.page link that opens the review box directly — and the 2026 change that broke a lot of old ones.

A Google review is the most valuable thing on the doable list for a business with a physical presence: it’s public, permanent, and it moves you in local search. It’s also the one where people most often paste the wrong link — sending shoppers to a map pin rather than to the box they can type in.
Get the link
- Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile.
- Search Google for your own business name. Your profile management panel appears in the results.
- Click Ask for reviews.
- Copy the short link from the pop-up. It looks like:
https://g.page/r/CxXxXxXxXxXxEBM/review
The same pop-up has a QR code — worth grabbing now if you ever pack inserts or run a counter.
The
/reviewon the end is the part that matters. It opens the review dialog straight away. A plain profile link makes the shopper hunt for the button, and most won’t.
Paste it into Symbiotic
- Symbiotic → Doables → Leave us a Google review → Add.
- Paste the link into Link to open.
- 5% is our default. A Google review is worth more than a follow and takes more effort — don’t underprice it.
- Save, then Turn on.
Rules you need to know
Google’s policies prohibit review gating — only asking happy customers — and they prohibit paying for reviews. Offering a discount for a review is a grey area that Google has explicitly warned about in the past, and some sellers have had review counts wiped for it.
What keeps you on the right side of it:
- Ask everyone who reaches the widget, not just people you think will be positive.
- Reward leaving a review, never leaving a good review. Never say “5-star” anywhere.
- Don’t make the reward conditional on what they wrote — Symbiotic can’t read the review and doesn’t try.
If that’s too close to the line for your risk appetite, point the doable at your own on-site reviews instead. See Get a review link for your store.
Short names were removed in 2026
Google retired custom short names (g.page/yourbusiness) in early 2026. If you set one up
years ago it may still resolve, but you can no longer create, edit or reclaim one — and it no
longer shows on your public profile.
The g.page/r/…/review link from Ask for reviews is the current one, and it’s the one this
guide uses. If an old short link is in your doable, replace it.
Troubleshooting
No “Ask for reviews” button. You’re not signed in to the managing account, or the profile isn’t verified yet. Verify the profile first — an unverified business can’t collect reviews.
Service-area business with no storefront. You still get a review link; you just won’t get a map pin. Everything above works the same.
