Asking shoppers a question

Ask a short question in the chat and offer a reward for answering. Symbiotic records the response before granting the reward. This confirms that an answer was submitted, not that it is true.

Choose a question

• How did you hear about us? Use the channels you actually want to compare, with a “Somewhere else” option for answers you have not anticipated.
• What nearly stopped you buying? Ask about concerns such as price, sizing, shipping or returns. Review repeated answers to find parts of the shopping experience worth improving.
• When’s your birthday? This collects a month, not a full date. Add it only if you have a use for that information. A birthday answer alone does not give you a way to contact the shopper.

Set it up

1. Open Symbiotic → Doables and choose a question.
2. Add between two and eight choices where the question uses an answer list.
3. Write one clear idea per answer. Avoid wording that nudges people toward the answer you want.
4. Choose the reward amount. The defaults are editable starting points.
5. Save and turn on the question. Make sure an active campaign has doables enabled.

You can allow shoppers to type their own answer using the “Something else” option. Blank and duplicate choices are removed before the question is shown.

Read the answers

Open Symbiotic → Answers to see counts and percentages for each choice. Written answers appear separately. The CSV export includes the answers and their timestamps.

Treat these as the views of shoppers who chose to answer, rather than a complete survey of everyone who visited your store.

Contact details are separate

Answers are stored with the negotiation session. Email addresses and phone numbers collected through sign-up rewards appear under Sign-ups, with the wording each shopper accepted.
