Only add this doable if you have somewhere to send people. An install is a big ask; paying for one that leads to a half-finished app costs you twice.
If you have a native app
Apple App Store: open your app’s page at apps.apple.com, click the share control and copy
the link. It looks like https://apps.apple.com/us/app/your-app/id1234567890. You can also copy
it from App Store Connect.
Google Play: open your app’s listing and copy the address bar, or use the share button. It
looks like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yourbrand.app.
Both at once: you only get one link in the doable, so either pick the store most of your
customers use, or make a page on your own store that offers both — Online Store → Pages → Add
page, two buttons, link the doable at https://yourstore.com/pages/app. The extra tap costs
less than sending an iPhone user to Google Play.
If you don’t have an app
You still have something: a modern Shopify storefront can be saved to a phone’s home screen, where it opens full-screen with your icon on it. No build, no store listing, no review process.
Make the page:
- Online Store → Pages → Add page, titled Add us to your home screen.
- Write the two sets of instructions:
- iPhone: open the store in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open the store in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen.
- Save, and point the doable at
https://yourstore.com/pages/home-screen.
It isn’t a real app, and you shouldn’t call it one. Call it what it is: a shortcut that skips the search bar.
Paste it into Symbiotic
- Symbiotic → Doables → Get our app → Add.
- Paste the link into Link to open.
- Rename the label if you’re doing the home-screen version — Put us on your home screen is honest and converts better than Get our app when there’s no app.
- Set the reward and Save, then Turn on.
Troubleshooting
Desktop shoppers can’t complete it. True, and unavoidable — an App Store link on a laptop is a dead end. If most of your traffic is desktop, this is the wrong doable; use the newsletter one instead.
